The Friends of Priory Fields (FoPF) is a voluntary community group dedicated to conserving, maintaining and enhancing Priory Fields and the historic remains of Bicknacre Priory for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
Established by Woodham Ferrers & Bicknacre Parish Council following the transfer of land surrounding the Priory Arch, the Friends work in partnership with the Parish Council to care for this unique 27-acre green space. Over the years, the group has overseen significant improvements to the site, including the acquisition of additional land, habitat creation, tree planting, improved public access and the ongoing conservation of the Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Today, Priory Fields is recognised as an important community and heritage asset, providing opportunities for recreation, wildlife conservation, education and quiet enjoyment. The site is also home to the nationally recognised Green Flag Community Award, reflecting the dedication of the Friends and their volunteers.
